We’re delighted to announce that we have raised £17,800 through our Winter Fundraiser campaign! With our scheduled 2021 Beat The Streets unable to take place due to Covid-19 restrictions, we shifted our fundraising efforts online, launching our campaign from November to January 31: when our festival would have taken place.
Starting the fundraiser with Framework’s “Homeless To Home” challenge, members of the team and their friends set out to run, walk or cycle 121 miles – the distance from Nottingham Rock City to their Bristol venue, Thekla. The team went well over this target, covering 1,584.5 miles and raising £10,098 in the process.
The yearly sell-out popularity of the tombola at the festival inspired our online raffle, which offered a range of substantial prizes including concert tickets, gift vouchers and other contributions from generous local businesses & artists including Rock City, Rough Trade, The National Ice Centre, Broadway Cinema and many more. The raffle had over 900 entrants, and winners of the top prizes were announced on our Facebook page by local artist Jerub, who also performed a few songs in a live stream.
Our Beat The Streets Crowdfunder offered unique rewards to be bought, including gigs to Rock City for a whole year, custom illustrated portraits and a range of our exclusive merchandise.
Finally, the ‘Blind Auction’ offered fans the opportunity to bid for signed merchandise from Nottingham Forest FC and Nottinghamshire Country Cricket Club as well as tickets to see Pet Shop Boys in a suite at The O2.
The money raised for this Fundraiser takes the total we have raised since our launch in 2018 to £259,800. The money raised so far has enabled the charity to keep the Sneinton Hermitage shelter open all year round, employ two mental health workers, and continue delivering desperately needed services, during what has been an incredibly difficult period with the Coronavirus pandemic.
DHP Family Managing Director, George Akins states: “We were of course disappointed not be able to deliver our usual Beat The Streets Festival this year, but feel so grateful to the Nottingham music community for backing our Winter Fundraiser campaign. The pandemic has been tough for everyone, but even more so for those who are homeless or vulnerable, so we’re really pleased we have been able to contribute towards the excellent work Framework are doing.”
Framework’s Chief Executive Andrew Redfern notes: “Thank you to everyone at DHP Family, to partners and countless musicians for finding ways to raise an amazing total of £17,800 at this most challenging time for the music industry and the entertainment sector. Your wholehearted commitment in raising more than £250,000 since 2018 is truly inspiring and has made a tangible difference to the lives of homeless people in Nottingham.”
